Playing a team twice in one tournament is very challenging - especially after dropping the earlier result. For the boys to be denied the result, off a deflected shot, after a questionable call, in the second overtime, in pre-season is something noteworthy.

RUSH KICKOFF CLASSIC WRAPUP:
A solid team performance was provided by all: Andrew Simon; Michael Howell; Brian Wiltse; Chase Clark; Steven Bentley; Arius Jones; Issa Rayyan; Hunter Wander; and Keegan Hobson. Goalscorers for the weekend: Michael Howell (5); Brian Wiltse (2); Chase Clark (2); Steven Bentley (5); Arius Jones (4); Issa Rayyan (7); Hunter Wander (2); Keegan Hobson (1). Goalkeepers for the weekend: Brian Wiltse and Hunter Wander.
Playing the same team twice in one tournament is always a tough scenario psychologically, as the 98 Boys Navy learned - and, almost the hard way. Having defeated Rush Downriver 5 - 0 in earlier round robin play, the 98 Orange met up with them in the Final and had to really work for a 2 - 1 championship win in miserably hot and humid weather. Their road to the championship went like this:
Kudos to one and all on a gutsy performance. |
